I have read this author a few times so figured I had nothing to lose on this free book. It was a pretty good love story but a little predictable. Your typical guy hates girl, girl hates guy based on what they "think" they know about each other, basically judging a book by the cover. The guy Charlie does a favor for a friend to help the girl Caroline and they get locked in her fur coat freezer for 18 hours. They both hate each other but find a night of passion to keep warm before they go back to hating each other again. Since the title of the book is "Bundle of Joy" Caroline of course gets pregnant. Charlie insists they get married but divorced right after the baby is born (which really doesn't make sense how that will help) but Caroline agrees. Charlie moves into Caroline's guest bedroom and they start a marriage where they can't stand each other. The book goes through Caroline's whole pregnancy and of course the slow love story of Charlie & Caroline both figuring out the other is not like the image they put on in public and they have more in common then they think. They slowly become friends and have a sexual chemistry that they can't resist.Even though this publishing date says Nov 2012, I am pretty sure its a reissue. Charlie was in the Navy, in the book he is 35 years old and refers to his tours of duty being in "Nam", not too current. Also they have walkman's and cassette tapes and VCR's, which I don't think the teens these days knows what theses things are. But this doesn't really distract from the story, just kinda funny to read. I also think this book is in a series, there are references to other characters like they had previous books about them. The sex in the book was pretty good, nothing erotic but certainly more than other romances. The one thing I did not like was the cover, yes its a cute baby, but this is a romance story about making the baby not a story about babies. If I could change something it would be the cover.
If you are looking for a typical romance story with love, hate, tension and of course a happy ever after than read this book, hopefully its still free.

This was definitely a fun story to read. The two main characters, Charlie and Caroline, have such an amusing exchange of words whenever they met, that I kept forgetting that he had a mustache (Just one of my pet peeves. Must have a beard, goatee, or something to go with the mustache. I just can't stand a mustache by itself). They both put on a great show of how they hate each other, but even everyone around them can tell they have feelings for each other. The town people have always tried to get them together, which is one the reasons they end up stuck together in a cold, dark fur vault for several hours; leading to pregnancy.
Charlie and Caroline are complete opposites of each other. Caroline always has clothes, glamor, and the opinion of society on mind, though it is not for the reasons that it seems. Still, her thinking and behavior got on my nerves in the beginning. I would not be able to stand that character of Caroline if I met her in real life. She becomes much better during her pregnancy. Her feelings and thoughts towards life change as the ninth month approaches. I loved how Charlie took the time to learn about pregnancy, perhaps even more than Caroline. He took very good care for her. His surprise for her and their child at the end was wonderful!
Charlie and Caroline share very playful and exciting moments together. It was cute and heartbreaking at the same time, what they ended up saying or doing during fights. In the middle of the story, things did get a little boring when Charlie and Caroline barely saw each other despite living in the same house.
It was very nicely written and although the general plot was of a common sort, I loved reading it!
Charlie and Caroline went together like oil and water, but one night trapped in her fancy store's fur vault and they created a Bundle of Joy. Charlie believed that a baby needed both a mother and father and insisted on a temporary marriage for their baby.
The romance was a series of slow realizations of what they meant to each other, pretending to be a happily newly married couple and getting to know one another. The courtship was sweet and came after the marriage for this stubborn couple. Nothing was easy for them and still they found what each needed and their own special happy ending with a beautiful baby daughter, Erin.
I enjoyed this book even though there were some odd things in it. (Sam had braces in second grade? Don't think so. At one point Caroline is wearing shorts, then all of a sudden she's wearing jeans. Odd things like this pulled me out of the story at times.) Charlie is a short-order cook and Caroline runs a VERY high-end resale shop of designer clothes. From the moment they meet, they have a contentious relationship. Then after an accident forces them to spend a night together, resulting in a pregnancy... Yes, the story is predictable, but I really liked it anyway. There are some really funny moments in the book (the wedding made me laugh) as well as some very sweet ones. I liked both Charlie and Caroline and the secondary characters were interesting, too. I didn't look for a date for this book but it seems like it might be an early Bretton. I am definitely going to look for more of her stories.
For those who are interested The (very little) sex depicted in this book is not graphic.
